Principal's Corner
A Message from Ms. Greenwald
Dear Heights Families,
Welcome to our Heights School website and very special school community! The faculty and staff of Heights are excited to see everyone soon as we embark upon the new school year together. Our mantra, “Reach for New Heights”, symbolizes our goal for students to evolve and grow throughout their years at Heights both academically and socially-emotionally. We invite our students in all grade levels, K-5, to do their very best each day, with the guidance, care, and support of our dedicated teaching team.
Balancing academics along with social-emotional wellness is an important part of educating the whole child. We embrace this philosophy at Heights, and this is evident in classrooms where our teachers create a community of learners with their students that is engaging, while also being respectful to others. Our Character Education Program focuses on the 6 Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. These pillars are reinforced every day throughout the school year, whether it be during classroom lessons and discussion with the school counselor or teacher, sharing quotes of the day during our daily morning announcements, or recognizing students each month who have demonstrated these pillars with others in our school community. While not officially listed as a part of the 6 Pillars of Character, Kindness is also valued and impressed upon with all our Heights students each day.
We are extremely fortunate to have supportive families and a successful partnership with our Parent-Teacher-Organization. The PTO collaborates alongside teachers and administrators to provide unique experiences and opportunities for our Heights students. Not only does our PTO provide these opportunities for students, but also organizes special events for families, and recognizes the hard work of our staff through appreciation and gratitude. Some highlights include the Welcome Back Movie Night, Scholastic Book Fair, Penny Pileup, Cultural Arts Assemblies, Class Celebrations, Teacher Appreciation Week, and much more! If you have not already joined the PTO for the 24-25 school year, I highly encourage you to join this outstanding organization.
Communication is essential when working closely together with you in the best interest of our Heights children. Please feel free to contact me, your child’s teacher, main office, or any one of our school staff at any time. Ongoing communication throughout the school year will provide a space to share student experiences, as well as be proactive as the year progresses.
Thank you for the gift of allowing myself and the faculty and staff to be with your children each day. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year together!
Warm regards,
Robyn P. Greenwald
